Grace Borzini of Oak Shores Realty #1 in Monterey County Residential Sales for 2016

Grace_AwardMonterey County’s robust 2016 home sales were led by Grace Borzini, broker-owner of Oak Shores Realty, with 97 residential units sold, representing a dollar volume of $31,221,900. Her average home sale price was $321,875.

Borzini’s 2016 sales achievement eclipses her strong performance of 2015, when she sold 99 residential units and was #2 in Monterey County sales production.

As a real estate industry sales leader with over 18 years of experience, Borzini credits her success to a simple principal: client focus. “The Monterey County real estate market moves quickly,” Borzini explains. “Rapid response to the client is essential. Having the support of an expert team, along with operational efficiencies, enables me to provide a high level of service.”

The 5-star client reviews Borzini has on Zillow and Yelp support that statement. In addition to stellar service, Borzini and the team at Oak Shores Realty deliver outstanding sales performance that consistently place them among the area’s top producers.

When asked about her marketing strategies, Borzini offered this advice to Monterey County home sellers: “Prepare your home for the market; home condition still counts. And while the market is currently in your favor, don’t be tempted to price your home too high. It’s better to price your home competitively and draw maximum buyer attention. This can lead to aggressive, multiple-offer scenarios that result in a handsome sales price.”

Borzini also has some words of advice for Monterey County home buyers: “Prepare your financing first; know what you can afford, and plan your home search accordingly. Be ready to take immediate action when you find a home you like, and make a compelling offer. Knowing your priorities will help you make confident decisions.”

Grace Borzini has been serving tri-county residents with professional real estate services since 1999. As a longtime resident of Monterey County, she believes in giving back to the local communities. She sits on the Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Board, and is the chair of the Hospitality Room during the fair. She is also a founding board member of the Southern Monterey County Foundation, which is an affiliate of the Community Foundation for Monterey County. Learn more at www.oakshoresrealty.com. Where to Eat Christmas Dinner in SLO County

SLO County

Christmas Dining Options in SLO County

In my last blog post, I shared where to dine on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day in Monterey County. As your SLO County real estate agent, today I’d like to share where you can dine in SLO County this holiday weekend. While the Monterey County list was quite extensive, only two restaurants were mentioned for SLO County this Christmas. Take a look:

  • Celebrate Christmas Eve or Christmas Day at Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. Aside from their incredible holiday decorations, they will be offering special menus each day with impressive main courses, savory sides, fresh rolls and decadent desserts. Cost is $39.95 for adults and $24.95 for kids. Classic entrees are available as well. Eat and socialize while enjoying holiday music and decorations. This runs from 3 to 10 p.m. on Dec. 24 and noon to 10 p.m. Christmas Day. Call to make reservations!
  • The Apple Farm in San Luis Obispo will be serving a special Christmas Prix-Fixe Dinner from noon to 9 p.m. on Dec. 25. Cost is $38.95 per adult and $18.95 for children 12 years and younger. Everyone’s dinner consists of soup or salad, cornbread, mashed potatoes, roasted yams, fresh vegetables, homemade pie and a non-alcoholic beverage. Entrees include options such as roast turkey and dressing, prime rib of beef, honey glazed ham and more.

I would definitely recommend calling one of these two places as soon as possible for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, as they will most likely fill up quickly if they are the only ones serving that day. If you know of more restaurants serving over the holiday weekend in SLO County, leave a comment and share! I’m sure there are others. Your best bet is to call your favorite restaurants and ask them if they will be open.

Enjoy your holiday weekend here on the Central Coast of California! As soon as you are ready to accomplish your real estate dreams, either as a buyer, seller or both, contact me. As a Central Coast real estate agent, I look forward to serving you in the New Year.

More Paso Robles Wineries to Visit with Holiday Guests

Paso Robles wineries

Best Wineries in Paso Robles

In my last blog post, I shared a list of the best Paso Robles wineries to visit, according to Food & Wine Magazine. At least, I shared some of them. Their list is quite extensive, and can you blame them? Paso Robles has so many amazing wineries, it’d be hard to just choose a few!

As your Central Coast real estate agent, I am continuing their list of choices here. Choose a few of these to take your holiday guests to in the coming weeks!

  • Hearst Ranch Winery – This was cofounded by a William Randolph Hearst descendant, which is where it gets its name. You can visit the tasting room out in the midst of vineyards and a 73,000-acre cattle operation, or you can visit the tasting room in San Simeon, inside an old 1852 general store.
  • Jada Vineyard & Winery – This family’s boutique, 3,000-case winery produces all its own grapes from its bio-dynamically farmed vineyard! Stop in to enjoy a contemporary tasting room and Bordeaux and Rhone-style blends, with names such as Jersey Girl and Hell’s Kitchen.
  • Lohr – Although this is one of the Central Coast’s largest and best-known brands, the winery is still family-owned. When visiting, you can enjoy no-fee tastings, unless you want to try the limited production wines. Some days, you get to try wines only available at the tasting room!
  • Justin Winery – This winery not only has a tasting room, but also an upscale boutique hotel named Just Inn. Drop-in tastings cost $15, or you can book a tour or attend a weekend seminar. They are known for their pricey proprietary blends, like Isoceles and Justification, but have cheaper wines as well.
  • L’Aventure – A long-standing family of wine producers in France made their mark on the hills of Paso Robles when Stephen Asseo began L’Aventure. These are some of the Central Coast’s most highly regarded wines, famous for Cabernet-Syrah blends like Optimus and Estate Cuvee.
  • Peachy Canyon – Family-owned since 1988, this winery is one of the best-known Zinfandel producers in the region. Enjoy wines in the tasting room, which resides inside an 1886 repurposed Old Bethel Schoolhouse! Tastings include Zins and small-batch Rhone and Bordeaux-style wines.
  • Summerwood Winery & Inn – This is another boutique-production winery located on the West Side of Paso Robles. They are most known for small lots of pricey Rhone and Bordeaux varietals, including whites like the Diosa Blanc Rhone blend. Recline in leather chairs while tasting a flight of five wines.
  • Sculpterra Winery & Sculpture Garden – This is more than just a winery! Bring your guests to try the large array of wines and to stroll the beautiful grounds, which are covered with unique sculptures and artwork, many of which are for sale. You can also enjoy bocce ball, foosball and other games.

The other wineries mentioned by Food & Wine include Tablas Creek, Tobin James Cellars, Turley Wine Cellars and Wild Horse Winery. Take this newfound knowledge on wineries in the Paso Robles region with you to the holiday dinner table this year, and see who wants to go visit a few of them with you!

Which of the Paso Robles wineries mentioned is your favorite to visit? As a Central Coast real estate agent, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Best Paso Robles Wineries to Visit

Paso Robles Wineries

Best Paso Robles Wineries to Visit

If you’ve got holiday guests staying with you this month on the Central Coast of California, chances are, they’re going to want to visit a winery or two. After all, this region is known for them! Luckily, Food & Wine Magazine shared a list of the wineries in Paso Robles that they think are the best to visit. All you have to do is take their word for it, and choose a couple to bring your guests to.

As your Central Coast real estate agent, I am going to make it even easier for you by sharing some of their Paso Robles winery picks here:

  • Adelaida Cellars – This family-owned winery was established in 1981 and sits at an altitude of 1,400-2,000 feet. Here, you can enjoy Rhone wines, Pinot Noir, Cabernet and more while appreciating the amazing views.
  • Broken Earth Winery – This property encompasses 520 acres of vines! Taste an array of flights in the tasting room. If you bring a bottle home, the staff will help you create a custom label. Enjoy Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
  • Daou Vineyards & Winery – The French brothers who run this winery are leaders in the Paso AVA with flagship reds like Patrimony and Soul of a Lion. Expect to pay triple digits for these! They also have less expensive wines to choose from as you enjoy views for the “Tasting Room in the Sky.”
  • Eberle Winery – Gary Eberle worked for his family winery in the 1970’s and then opened this winery in 1984. The family-owned winery is known for their Zins, but also whites like Viognier and Rhone blend Cotes du Robles Blanc. Enjoy wines outside on the patio or inside a wine cave, where tours take place.
  • Epoch Estate Wines – This winery is a work in progress, as a geologist couple revitalized the historic wine estate in 2004. The 350-acre winery began in 1882! The tasting room is currently in a fancy trailer, so go appreciate the Rhone-style red blends and the gorgeous, historic mountain site.
  • Field Recordings – This is a great place to bring guests with all different tastes in wine. The tasting room is conveniently located downtown Paso Robles. The owner plants and sells vines to vineyards across the Central Coast, and his tasting room is full of personal vineyard finds. He even has wine in cans.
  • Halter Ranch Vineyards – This historic wine property dates back to the 1870’s, as you can still see form the Victorian farmhouse and outbuildings on this 900 acres of land. However, this impressive winery also includes a brand-new tasting room, Land Rover excursions and Bordeaux and Rhone-style wines.

These are just some of the wineries in Paso Robles that Food & Wine Magazine recommends. As your Central Coast real estate agent, I will continue with this list in my next blog post. You’ve got plenty of incredible wineries to visit with your holiday guests, and plenty of factual tidbits to share with them!

Enjoy your holidays, and as always, contact me for help achieving your goals in the Central California real estate market.

Explore Monterey County Wine with Holiday Guests This Season

Monterey County Wine

Monterey County Wine Excursions

Do you have guests coming to stay with you this holiday season? If you’re not sure what to do with them while they’re in town, take them on a wine country excursion in Monterey County! While most people think of Paso Robles as the heart of Central Coast Wine Country, both Monterey County and SLO County are filled with wineries and vineyards worth checking out.

In Monterey County alone, there are more than 43,000 acres of vineyards with over 53 varietals of wine. As your Monterey County real estate agent, I’d like to fill you in on where to take holiday guests this season, with some helpful tips from See Monterey.

Here are three different towns that See Monterey recommends visiting for a day of wine tasting, along with where to go and what to drink:

Carmel-by-the-Sea

Carmel-by-the-Sea makes wine tasting easy with their Wine Tasting Passport! For $65 per person, you can take a self-guided tour of the tasting rooms in town, complete with wine flight at any nine of the 14 participating venues. There are more than 15 tasting rooms total in town! When you decide on a bottle to purchase, you can walk right down to Carmel Beach and enjoy sipping it while walking or resting on the white sands.

Carmel Valley

Get a ride on MST’s Grapevine Express for only $5, which will take you into Carmel Valley from Monterey without you having to assign a designated driver! Once there, you can work your way through the plethora of tasting rooms in Carmel Valley Village. They are all a short walking distance from each other. See Monterey recommends Cima Collina for their beautiful outdoor patio, and Talbott Vineyards for their vintage motorcycle collection on display.

Salinas Valley

With a short drive down Highway 68, you’ll find River Road, which is home to some of the most fertile land in the world. Stop at some of the wineries nestled in these Central Coast rolling hills. See Monterey recommends booking a tour with Ag Venture Tours to get a sneak peek at the wine-making process, or to stop at Chalone Vineyards, located at the mouth of Pinnacles National Park. This is home to the oldest grape vines in Monterey County, and they have barrel tastings and wine caves to explore.

Bring your holiday guests on of these wine excursions in Monterey County, or one in SLO County and Paso Robles, and they’ll never forget their experience! Read more helpful tips in the See Monterey article.

When your holiday guests decide to relocate to the Central Coast region, you can send them my way for relocation and home-buying assistance!

Enjoy your holiday season, good luck hosting guests, and as always, contact me for any Central Coast real estate market help! As a Central Coast real estate agent, I am always ready to help, no matter when you need it.

Holiday Events Coming Up in SLO County

SLO County Events

SLO County Holiday Events

In my last blog post, I shared a list of winter holiday events coming up in Monterey County. It should come as no surprise that the list of festive events in SLO County is just as long! Plan the next month out with this list of fun and festive events taking place in SLO County for the holidays. As your SLO County real estate agent, I’ve put together a list of the most helpful information:

  • The 5th Annual Cambria Christmas Market is a festive, ongoing gathering that is meant to feel like one of Germany’s traditional Christmas markets. You can enjoy brats, Gluhwein (traditional hot spiced wine) and other baked goods and treats while wandering through over one million lights, shopping among vendors, listening to live music and more. It runs now through Dec. 23 at Cambria Pines Lodge.
  • Hearst Castle Holiday Twilight Tours are running through December! See the estate as Mr. Hearst’s guests would have enjoyed it in the 1920’s and 1930’s with wreaths, towering trees, and a one-of-a-kind poinsettia tree. You will also hear stories of holiday festivities during the estate’s heydays.
  • Head to Sunken Gardens in Atascadero on Dec. 2 for their Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony. From 6 to 7:30 p.m., enjoy a complimentary tour of City Hall, a visit with Santa, hot chocolate, holiday music by local groups, and the moment all of the lights turn on. It is free and open to everyone!
  • The Holiday Harmony & Tree Lighting Ceremony at Pismo Beach Pier takes place Dec. 2. From 5:30 to 8 p.m. Enjoy an event that includes bounce houses, crafts, music, cookie decorating, visits and pictures with Santa, and the downtown tree lighting that takes place at 6 p.m. They will even have fresh snow!
  • Downtown SLO hosts their Annual Holiday Parade on Dec. 2 this year. It’s one of the largest parades on the Central Coast and attracts thousands of spectators, so don’t miss it. The parade features all kinds of floats, vehicles, marching bands, dancers and more. It runs from 7 to 9 p.m. and is free to attend!
  • SLO Little Theatre is hosting A Christmas Story Dec. 3-23. Enjoy this Christmas classic as you watch Ralphie and his quest for a BB gun live on stage. Some of the shows will offer martinis at the bar. Show times are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.
  • Downtown Paso Robles will host their own Christmas Light Parade on Dec. 3. The parade begins at 7 p.m. and takes place down the streets of downtown Paso Robles. Enjoy lit up floats and the arrival of Santa Claus at the Holiday House, who is in downtown city park until Christmas Eve.

Again, this is just a snippet of the holiday events taking place in SLO County, just as my blog post with holiday events in Monterey County was. There is no shortage of festive spirits and activities in the Central Coast region of California this time of year. Enjoy your month!

When ready to achieve your Central Coast real estate market goals, contact me, your SLO County real estate agent. I am here and ready to help you!
