Harvest Wine Weekend in Paso Robles

Paso Robles Wine Festival

Paso Robles Harvest Wine Weekend

All wine drinkers and lovers of local Paso Robles wine will unite at the annual Harvest Wine Weekend, held this weekend, Oct. 20-22, throughout the Paso Robles region! As your Central Coast real estate agent, and a lover of local wine myself, I am here to fill you in on what you need to know for attending this festival weekend. Whether you’re new to the area, you’ve been once or you go every year, you won’t want to miss out on the fun!

The cool thing about this event is that it isn’t one main event that costs a hefty price. Instead, each Paso Robles winery hosts its own events at its own location, creating more than 100 events that span over three days of the weekend! You find the events that sound most appealing to you.

With so many to choose from, deciding which events to attend is the hardest part! I’ve selected a few to detail here that sound fun to me:

  • Opolo Vineyards is hosting a dinner and grape stomp on Oct. 20 and 21! From 5:30 to 10 p.m. each evening, enjoy rolling up your pants and stomping grapes the old-fashioned way. Then savor a dinner with roasted lamb, Sarma, chicken and sides paired with Opolo wine. Afterward, get out and do some folk dancing! Reserve your spot, cost is $100 for members and $120 for non-members.
  • Eberle Winery would like to host you for dinner and dancing on Oct. 20 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. This informal evening will include grilled meat and ribs, beans, garlic bread, salad and dessert. Eat, drink and then dance the night away under the stars to live music from Julie Beaver and the Bad Dogs. Cost is $60 for Cellar Club members, $75 otherwise, which includes wine.
  • Head to Cass Winery on Oct. 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. for a Gatsby Garden Party! The evening will include a glass of Cass Sparkling Wine, hors d’oeuvres and Cass Estate Wine. Roaring 20s attire is highly recommended! Drink, snack and dance to live music from the Martini Lunch Band, a classic jazz trio playing songs from Sinatra, Dean Martin and more.
  • Summerwood Winery will host a Pet Costume Contest all weekend, Oct. 20-22, so bring your pet in costume at any time, as this is always a pet-friendly winery. Staff will vote on best-dressed pet and prizes will be awarded. Plus, their tasting room has large windows that look right into the cellar, so stop by and watch the winemaking process take place live. Enjoy tabletop and lawn games as well.
  • Hunt Cellars Winery has all sorts of events taking place. They will be offering a dozen wines to taste during the weekend. Saturday, 12 to 4 p.m., enjoy famous free BBQ Bites for lunch, plus enjoy a grape stomp, lawn games and live bluegrass. Sunday, stop by for a complimentary local cheese paring with your wine, or reserve a spot for their 6:30 p.m. winemakers’ dinner.

This just a tiny selection of all the events taking place this weekend, including many more special tastings, dinners, grape stomps, live music, games, wine sales and more. Check out the full list of events here.

Enjoy your wine-filled weekend in Paso Robles! When ready to accomplish your Central Coast real estate market goals this fall season, contact me, your Central Coast real estate agent.

What to Do at California Mid-State Fair

California Mid-State Fair

California Mid-State Fair

The California Mid-State Fair begins next week! It runs from July 19 through July 30 this year at the Paso Robles Event Center. In our last blog post, we shared who will be performing at the Fair this year, from famous acts that require an extra ticket, to local bands that are included with Fair admission.

As your Central Coast real estate agent, I’d like to fill you in on what else you can look forward to at the California Mid-State Fair this year, aside from live music! There is so much to do there, it’s hard to keep track sometimes. Here’s a general synopsis of the days to come in Paso Robles.

Entertainment options at the Fair extend way beyond live music! Attend the 98.1 KJUG Barndance, sign your babies up for the Diaper Dash, fall in love with the Farm Fresh Kids, let your kids create art at Kids Art Smart, let off steam at the Fun Zone, enter one of the Public Contests, sign up for the Tractor Races, meet farm animals at the Petting Zoo, and so much more.

The Carnival is a huge attraction for kids and families, and this year, tickets for the carnival rides are going to cost about half as much as they have in past years! There are rides for kids and teens of all ages. From the Carousel, Frog Hopper and Farm Bounce, to the Big Splash water ride, Cliff Hanger and House of Zombies, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Demonstrations are a great way to learn something new while getting involved and meeting others with the same passions as you. Kids will enjoy the Bugs, Slugs & Spiders demo. Adults may enjoy the Cake Decorating demo. You can also sit back and watch the Strongest Man & Woman contest, square dancers, zoo animals, youth performances and more.

Livestock shows and contests are a big part of California Mid-State Fair! There are events taking place throughout the week and half, such as poultry shows, rabbit shows, sheep dog trials, dog show, dairy goat show, swine showmanship and many others. Show off your livestock or just attend and admire everyone else’s!

Let’s not forget all of the amazing food you can find at the Fair as well! New vendors this year include Crave Mini Donuts, Top Notch Concessions, The Hurricane Kitchen, The Gingerbread Shop, Pon’s Chinese Food, Baja Lobster Dogs and William’s Concessions. Bring your appetite and stay hydrated!

More information about all of the activities and schedule of events can be found on the Fair website, along with special admission days. As your Central Coast real estate agent, I hope you and your family get to head to the Fair at least once to enjoy it! It’s a great example of old-fashioned fun that the Central Coast still thrives on.
